World of Darkness and more at EVE Fanfest 2012

If you’re looking for more information on the upcoming game from the makers of EvE Online, World of Darkness, EvE Fanfest 2012 was a great place to get it. There were lots of great goodies revealed at the event, including more information about the game.

Like EVE, World of Darkness will focus a lot on player-driven conflict, with players trying to control individual cities on its single server, Massively reports. One player can be elected Prince of each city, with the unique option to condemn others players to permadeath. One imagines that EVE-style politics will help keep Princes in check, should they get too big for their boots.

CCP, the creators of EvE Online, have a new game in development and its premise is very exciting. While it will bear some similarities to EvE in gameplay, it has a different theme and it’s quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen in an MMO before. 

They expect to tap into the female fanbase with great-looking vampires and gorgeous fashion. The graphics that were revealed and pretty good looking and the game shows a lot of promise indeed.

Guns a Mere Fashion Accessory in World of Darkness

World of Darkness is more than a shoot and kill game. In fact, guns were called a mere “fashion accessory” because there are much more important things happening in this game and a gun is going to do very little to bloodsuckers.

That’s not the only thing you need to know about the upcoming World of Darkness. Here’s a great interview from PC Gamer that gives you more insight to the game.

PC Gamer had some interesting details into the game:

Creative director, Raynir Hardason shared some exclusive details with us at last week’s fanfest.

PC Gamer: Are we all vampires? Can I just play as a human and not turn?

Reynir Hardarson: Yes.

PC Gamer: Will I be able to compete though? Will I be as powerful as the vamps?

Reynir Hardarson: No. Not as a non-immortal. Part of the transformation is that immediately you become a lot more powerful in different ways…

PC Gamer: So it’s a decision that players can make? “I’m don’t want to roll with those guys?”

Reynir Hardarson: Yes. The game begins when you die.

“It’s biased towards close range combat. World of Darkness is not a shooter; you will be able to use guns but they’re mostly used for defence,” explains Reynir. “Guns are not effective against vampires, they can take bullets easily. Secondly it’s much more powerful using your own abilities. Guns are toys. It’s a fashion item, a fashion accessory.” We’ll have more on World of Darkness soon.

World of Darkness MMO Revealed

World of Darkness is coming- are you ready? The upcoming game from CCP is getting closer and closer to completion with each passing day and we are super excited about it. I was a huge fan of EVE Online so I’m really curious how they are going to do with this game. 

Players will exist on a single server where politics will be super important and more powerful players can kill off their enemies forever! This is not your typical die-and-respawn-PvP and it has a vampire twist. I’m a big fan of vampires so this caught my attention right away. 

All players start out as human and you must see how long you can survive in a world full of bloodsuckers. Of course, if you dream of becoming a vampire, it’s fairly easy to get turned early on in the game rather than to try to resist. Guns don’t mean much and you’re going to want to run with the pack if you want to survive.

Game developer CCP, which created the 'EVE Online', has just revealed a bit of information about the upcoming Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) 'World of Darkness' (WoD) at this year’s Fanfest in Iceland. WoD’s senior producer Chris McDonough took the stage to reveal a few early details about the game and talked about the mechanics, the game play world, and what makes it both similar and different when compared to 'EVE Online'.

'World of Darkness' is mostly based on the White Wolf tabletop RPG and focuses primarily on one major element of the supernatural world – vampires. However, it has also been said that mages, werewolves and other elements of the universe will eventually be added. But in the beginning, players will need to create a blood-sucker and join different clans fighting for control over cities and territories.
